You meet the unassembled cube or barrel sauna at the customer's home on a day they've arranged, put it together, and hand it over. No electrical. No chimney work. Just clean, satisfying assembly and a happy customer at the end of the day.

The person

  • Handy and reliable. Trade experience is a plus, not a requirement.
  • Comfortable calling a customer 48 hours ahead to confirm, and again if plans change.
  • Friendly and presentable. You'll walk the homeowner through their sauna at the end of the day.
  • Tidy by habit. You leave the site cleaner than you found it.
  • Would rather flag a problem to us than hide it from a customer.

The setup

  • Your own vehicle, tools, ladder and extension cords.
  • Weekday availability, not only weekends. Installs are scheduled with the customer.
  • Able to lift 60 lbs repeatedly and work outside all day, rain or shine.
  • Contractor liability insurance, or willing to set it up during onboarding.

The Nootka Standard

How we show up

Every installer works to the same written standard. It's specific, it's fair, and it's how we've kept a five-star reputation. Here's the short version.

48 hours beforeCall or text the homeowner. Confirm the date, your arrival time, parking and gate access.
On arrivalGreet before you unload. Share the plan for the day. Walk the site together and confirm placement.
Their propertyAsk before moving belongings or crossing a lawn. Shoes off indoors. Your own ladder, never their fence.
Foundation sign-offThe homeowner approves orientation and location before the walls go up. After that there's no going back.
During the buildHeadphones, not speakers. Tidy as you go. Cuts on sawhorses with eye protection. Problems get solved with Nootka, not in front of the customer, and never left undisclosed.
HandoverWalk the customer through the controller, rocks, banding, door jamb and sealant. QC photos. No screws in the grass. Recap who owns any follow-up.

Pay & expenses

Flat fee per install, plus travel

  • One flat fee for each completed install. You know the number before you accept the job.
  • Travel expenses covered so a farther job isn't a worse job.
  • You're an independent contractor. Your schedule, your business, your call on which days you take.

How you get paid, step by step

  1. Base amount per sauna assembled. Set before you accept the job, shown on the job card.
  2. Quality amount added after your Territory Manager reviews your QC photos.
  3. Mileage per km from your home base, beyond a short home zone. Ferry fares reimbursed on receipt, and ferry time paid separately.
  4. Overnight stipend when a job needs it.
  5. Reviewed, scheduled for pay, paid. You see every line.

FAQ

Before you apply

Good questions

Is this a job or a contract?

It's an independent contractor program. Each install is a separate single-day contract. You bring your own vehicle, tools and (ideally) contractor insurance, and you choose which days you take.

Do I need trade experience?

No. Carpentry, deck building, kit assembly, hot-tub delivery or similar experience is a plus, but the minimum is handy, reliable and owns tools. We train you in person.

What tools do I need?

A circular saw, impact driver, drill, a long level, a ladder and general hand tools cover most installs. You'll tell us what you have in the application. Nothing on the list is a deal-breaker on its own.

What vehicle do I need?

Sauna panels run 8 to 10 ft. A pickup, van, or a car with a trailer or roof rack works. The sauna itself is delivered to the customer's home before your install day; you're bringing yourself and your tools.

Do I do any electrical or chimney work?

No. The customer's electrician handles the heater hookup and we don't ask installers to do any chimney work.

How physical is it?

You'll be on your feet all day, outside, lifting panels with care. You need to be comfortable lifting 60 lbs. We tell you honestly what a hard site looks like before you accept a contract.

How much does it pay?

A flat fee per install plus travel expenses. We share exact rates with shortlisted applicants before their call, so you'll know before you commit any more time.

Do I need insurance?

Contractor liability insurance is expected for active installers. If you don't have it yet, tell us. Plenty of installers set it up during onboarding.

How is my application reviewed?

A person on our team reviews every application. We use AI tools to summarise applications and highlight questions for the reviewer, but no one is screened out automatically by software. See our privacy note.
